No matter what time of year you stop by my house, you’ll always find something Disney related. It’s certainly no different when it comes to Christmas. This year I’ve got an entire Disney tree with Mickey and Minnie ornaments. It’s just a tiny one, but it’s a start. I’ve always wanted a cute Disney tree and these Mickey and Minnie ornaments would make the perfect addition. And since they’re so cute, you could keep them out all year long – not just at Christmas!
This is one of those crafts that my kids are old enough now that they could make on their own with a little bit of supervision. I also like that it’s something they can put their own spin on. It doesn’t have to be “perfect” and they can do own things. They can show off their creativity with just a few things that don’t cost a bunch of money.
Mickey and Minnie Ornament Materials
First, you’ll need to grab your materials:
- One medium rattan ball
- Two small rattan balls
- Hot glue
- Spray Paint
- 2-inch length of ribbon
- Mini bow
The rattan balls and mini bows can be found at your local dollar store or craft store. You can also order them from Amazon to make it even easier.
Putting Your Mickey and Minnie Ornaments Together
If your kids are doing this, this might be the part that they need help and supervision with.
Start out hot gluing the small balls onto the bigger ball to resemble Mickey or Minnie’s ears.
Once you’ve attached them, spray paint the balls with the black spray paint. Do this outside or in the garage with some ventilation if possible. Make sure to put down some cardboard or newspaper down first to keep the over spray from getting everywhere.
To make Mickey, use ribbon to make a loop to hang the ornament on the tree. If you’re making Minnie, add her bow before adding a loop to hang the ornament on the tree.
You can leave the loop off if you want to use these for something other than an ornament. Think about attaching a magnet to the back and using them on your refrigerator or other magnetic surface.

Materials

Instructions
1. Hot glue the small rattan balls on either side of the large rattan ball.
2. Spray paint each side with black spray paint. Let it dry for at least an hour, but it is better if it dries overnight to ensure that the hot glue does not cause the spray paint to run.
3. To finish Mickey, create a ribbon loop and hot glue it to the top.
4. To finish Minnie, cut the twist tie on the mini bow and hot glue it between the ears.
5. Hang your ornaments on the tree, and enjoy them!
Notes
The rattan balls can be found at the Dollar Tree or a craft store. The mini bows are at the Dollar Tree, as well.
