Making a Graham Cracker Latte at Home

Drinks, Recipes

I’m not a coffee fanatic like most people.  Ice water is what you’ll normally find in my cup at any given time.  Every now and then though, I want to mix things up a little bit and have a “fancy” drink.  Hot chocolate is a great option when I want something warm, but sometimes I want something a bit more different.  These hit the spot and they’re so easy to make.  Whip up a graham cracker latte to enjoy while you’re getting ready to start your day or whenever you need a little pick me up.

What do I need to make a graham cracker latte?

This drink is easy to put together but does take a little bit of planning.  You’ll need some things that might not be in your pantry when making your graham cracker latte:

  • 1 graham cracker per drink (1/2 crushed, 1/2 left whole for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla simple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon honey 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 shots of gingerbread cookie coffee
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • frothed whipping cream

If you could peek into my kitchen, you’d know I’m not great at exact measurements on things.  My general rule is I’ll follow the recipe exactly the first time I make a recipe.  After that, I’ll tweak it to my tastes.  If you’re going to go this route, make sure to make note of your changes.  I always throw things together then forget the next time I’m making it and it can be hard to get things to come out consistently if you make a lot of changes.

Start out by adding the vanilla simple syrup, cinnamon, and honey into your cup.

If you’re going to be making a larger batch of this, add the ingredients to a pitcher or thermos (if you’re enjoying on the go).

Next, brew the gingerbread cookie grounds into two shots of espresso.  Once it’s finished, add it in with the syrup and flavorings.  Give everything a quick mix (or shake if you’re making it in something with a lid) to make sure everything gets incorporated together.

Graham cracker lattes are a delicious drink

To finish off your drink, froth the milk with the steamer. Add the milk to the latte and give it one more stir (or shake).  Stop here if you’re making these drinks ahead of time.    When you’re ready to enjoy your drink, top it with whipped topping, graham cracker crumbs and graham crackers.   If you prefer cold drinks, serve this over ice cubes and enjoy.

Make an extra drink and pour it into an ice cube tray.  Use those cubes to add to your warm drink to help cool it off without diluting the drink as the ice melts.

Enjoy your graham cracker latte as you're getting ready to start your day.

You can even add some of your favorite liquor to these to give them a little extra kick.

What’s your favorite flavor latte?
