Getting some girl time can be a challenge when you’ve got kids. Between sports, school, and work schedules, calendars fill up quickly making girl time seem impossible. You’ll have to get a little creative to make it happen, but it is possible!
Get Active
Grab your girlfriends and head out for a walk or run. Put your little ones in their strollers and bring them along if you have to. If you all belong to the same gym, try to sync up your schedules so you can be there at the same time. Make use of the childcare options offered if your gym has them. You’ll feel better after some giggles with the girls and from getting moving.
Movie Night
When the weather’s warm, rent a projector and inflatable movie screen and get the girls together. Keep it simple and ask everyone to bring their favorite movie snack and drink to share along with a blanket to sit on to watch the movie. You can provide the popcorn and lemonade without too much stress. And remember – it’s your friends coming over so the house doesn’t have to be spotless. Have your girlfriends bring a lawn chair so you can sit behind the kiddos and catch up while they’re entertained with the movie and snacks.
Day Trip
Planning a trip to the zoo? Maybe the pool? How about the aquarium? Don’t go alone! Let your girlfriends know and see who wants to go with you. Heck – if you get enough of you together you might even be able to get a group discount wherever you’re planning to go. You’ll be busy taking in the sights but maybe you can car pool and catch up on the drive or over lunch.
Picnic and Park Day
The kids need to burn off some energy and you need a break. Text your girlfriends and meet up at a local park for lunch. Split up the lunch and let everyone bring something to share. While the kids are off playing, take some time to chat with your girlfriends between the “Mom watch this!” requests. Think about packing an extra picnic basket for the moms with some wine and chocolate.
