One of our go to dinners is sloppy joes.  I have always been a “run to the store and grab a can” kind of girl when it comes to sloppy joes but sometimes that just isn’t an option and you’ve got to use what you’ve got at home.  It’s not that hard to make your own sloppy joes – especially in a slow cooker.  This slow cooker sloppy joe recipe is basically a dump, stir, and forget it recipe once you’ve browned the hamburger (wanna make it even faster?? Brown extra hamburger next time you’re doing it and throw it in the freezer once you’ve drained it.)

Slow cooker sloppy joes are something each of my kids will eat without complaint so it’s a meal that I like to make often in my house.  It’s also one of those recipes that I can sneak in a few extra veggies so my kids don’t realize what they’re eating or complain about how they don’t like tomatoes (uh hello ketchup…).

Making them in a slow cooker is also a huge time saver.  Throw everything in and leave it on the counter while you’re running errands, folding laundry, chasing kids, or catching up on the latest Real Housewives episodes (no judgement here!).  This slow cooker sloppy joe recipe is also something you could ask an older kiddo to throw in when they get home from school so dinner is ready when you get home from work.

Once you’ve got everything together, place the browned ground beef, ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, salt, and pepper in the slow cooker.  Mix everything together well so it’s all combined.  Put the lid on and let it cook on low for 2-3 hours.  Serve on hamburger buns or just eat it straight out of a bowl (usually what happens at our house…).  My kids also like theirs with cornbread or even just regular biscuits.
