Ending your day is almost as important as how you start your day. In our house we try to do as much as we can before we head to bed to prep for the following day. Mornings can be a little bit crazy so having a few less things to worry about can be helpful.
Our lunch calendar is hanging out on the fridge. The boys take a peek and decide if they’re packing or buying. Buying means they move on to something else. Packing means they have some work to do. Put a note or string on your backpack to remind you to grab it from the fridge the next morning!
Grab a snack and a drink
The kids here are allowed to bring a small snack and a water bottle. Each night they grab a clean bottle for the next day and something to munch on without being too messy.
Pack your bags
Anything that can go into the backpacks at night should be in there. That means less worrying and searching as you’re walking out the door for school. Gather papers from the homework spot and wherever you keep important notes to and from school.
Pick the outfit
We wear uniforms so it’s not too hard to pick out what you’re wearing for school. Before bed tops, bottoms, undergarments and socks all have to be laid out for the next morning. Hair ties and accessories should be picked as well.
Things like brushing your teeth, taking a shower and reading are part of every night regardless of the day of the week. They might happen later on the weekends, but they still happen.
Other things that pertain to your family can be added as well. Things like getting breakfast out (setting out the bowl and cereal for example), getting sports equipment out by the door or library books to be returned could all be added to the mix.
What things are part of your nightly routine? What’s something you’d like to do to help make your morning routine easier?
