Please tell me I’m not the only one who cannot believe it’s already May?!? It seems like we were just opening gifts and wishing people a happy new year… If time’s gotten away from you too, let me remind you that Mother’s Day is on Sunday. Here are some great gift ideas that totally won’t look like you waited until now to get a gift. And while these gifts are all geared towards the ladies in your life, I completely understand there are lots of single dads who take on the role of mom and dad for their kiddos. Some of these ideas would work for them as well. Hopefully you’ll be able to find something in the list regardless of the title of the person you’re celebrating this weekend.
Simple and From the Heart
Have the kids put together a cute craft project or take them out in the backyard and snap a new picture of them. Every Grandma loves a new picture of her grandchildren. You can put it into a frame the kids have decorated to make it even more personal. Even having a handmade card to go with the gift makes it extra special.
Subscription Services
Moms can always use things that make their lives a little bit easier. For the mom who loves movies and music, how about Amazon Prime? Shop Amazon – Give the Gift of Amazon Prime or try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial. Moms who need help getting dinner on the table would appreciate a meal delivery service like Blue Apron or Green Chef. If the mom in your life needs a little help with her wardrobe, try something like Stitch Fix or Fab Fit Fun to help her get some cute new pieces. Makeup loving Moms will be excited with a subscription to Ipsy or Boxy Charm.
Get Crafty
Does your mom have a creative side? Does she need some help getting things done? Gift cards to Michaels, Hobby Lobby or JoAnn’s are all safe bets. Shutterfly can help get all those pictures printed or create something new for Mom to add to her house. If outdoor creations are more her thing, check out your local home goods store or nursery to grab a gift card or pick up some new plants for her to add to her garden.
Face Time
No, not with your phone or tablet. Actual face time. Surprise Mom and take her somewhere both of you would enjoy some time together. Hotwire or Priceline can help you find a fantastic deal on a quick weekend getaway or something more substantial. Groupon always has great travel deals too. Of course you know I’m going to suggest a Disney trip as a great multi-generational trip where everyone would be able to have a good time.
Local Options
Don’t forget your local places too – local to you or your Mom – when you’re thinking about gift options. If there’s a bakery she particularly loves, call and see if they’ll deliver something or order something for her to swing by and pick up (or call a friend or local courier if they aren’t able to deliver). Flowers are always a good bet so a quick call to her favorite local florist would brighten her day. Food is always a safe bet so something like an Edible Arrangement would be a great way to celebrate too.
