LEGOs have been a staple in our house for years. We’ve had the sets and those were always fun to build. What my kids enjoyed the most though was having loose LEGOs that they could build anything they could imagine with. This fun, free printable Christmas LEGO game will give your kids and their imaginations a work out this holiday season.
Getting Ready to Play
You’ll want to make sure you’ve got all the different cards printed. After you’ve printed them out, cut apart each of the cards. These can be printed out on regular copy paper but printing them out on card stock will make them much more sturdy. You can even attach the cut out printed cards to colored construction paper if you’d like to. If you’ll be using these throughout the holidays, you might even want to laminate them to make them extra sturdy.
Playing the Game
Make sure you’ve got a selection of LEGOs on hand for the players to chose their pieces to build from. A variety of LEGOs will work best for this. Even LEGO Duplos would work for this Christmas LEGO game. The fun of this game is that you can adjust the rules to accommodate the kids who are playing (and how much time you have or need). Set a timer to see how many different creations can be built before the timer goes off. Or use the entire time to build just one of the characters on the cards drawn. You can let the players pick a card or make it a random selection by putting the cards face down on the table or in a bag or bowl for the players to choose from.
If you’re playing with a large group, you can print out multiple sets of cards. This would also be a great game for a classroom or group of kids to play together. The kids can split up into teams and work together to build one of the LEGO characters.
Make sure to put someone in charge of taking pictures of all the different creations and the kiddos who made them. You’ll want to remember these for years to come. When you’re packing this game up with your holiday decorations, store it in a zip top bag to keep all the pieces together.
