Enjoy the Weekends
Just because you don’t get a summer vacation from work or adulting, you can still make the most of the time you do have off. Lots of the suggestions on the printable below are things that you can do with little planning or expense. These things should be fun – not something else that causes more stress.
Get Friends Involved
No one says you’ve got to tackle these tasks alone. Text your girlfriends and get them on board to do some of these things. Your kids will be creating memories together and you’ll get some much needed adult time. Everyone should be able to enjoy the warm summer nights.
Prep for Everything
Spend an afternoon at Target or adding things to your Amazon cart and get everything you need for summer all at once. That way you won’t spend time during your valuable time off running around picking up things. You’ll be more likely to do these things if you’ve already got the supplies on hand.
Adapt for the Ages
Get the older kids involved by tweaking the different things to appeal to their interests. Some of the things on the list older kids can take on without much help from adults, giving them a bit of independence. If they’re not excited about going to the zoo, come up with a list of things for them of find during the visit in scavenger hunt fashion. Allow the kids to bring friends along for different activities. Having their friends around, they might be more willing to participate. Or encourage them to get involved with the motivation of earning money. Cleaning their rooms to find things for the family garage sale means the proceeds from those items go back to the kids. That might even motivate them enough to help during the sale too.
