Welcome to this month’s Blogorail Orange Loop. Today we are sharing tips and ideas for a solo trip to Disney. No matter when you’re visiting Disney, something on everyone’s mind is what they’ll be eating. Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs) can be tricky to get and it’s one of the first things people plan once they start thinking about their vacation. Traveling with a group means trying to find something for everyone (which isn’t hard at Disney!) but traveling solo gives you lots more options. Here are some tips for eating solo at Disney during your vacation:
- Pick your favorites. If you’ve been to Disney before, you’ve probably got a list of “must have” food and drinks. Make it part of your plans to enjoy your favorites while it’s just you!
- Try some new things. Always been wanting to try the milkshakes at 50’s Prime Time Cafe but the kids won’t like them? This is your chance!
- Skip meals. Since you’re on your own, you can skip sit down meals altogether if that works for you and just grab snacks during your day. That’s a great way to try a lot of different things. It also gives you the chance to sit and people watch or take in the details of an area you might skip over in the rush of visiting with a group.
- Dine alone. Can’t justify the price of eating in Cinderella Castle for your family? It’s not near as pricey for a party of one. This is a great way to check something out before a trip with a group to make sure the others would enjoy the experience.
- ADRs needed. You’ll still need ADRs for your meals but sometimes they’re easier to get when you’re a party of one instead of a party of four or five (or more). Don’t forget about walking up and trying to see if anything is available. If someone didn’t show up, there just might be a spot for you.
- Characters are cool. Just because you’re alone doesn’t mean you’ll need to skip out on character meals. You’ll likely get just as much interaction as any other table and won’t feel as rushed and be able to enjoy the experience instead of worrying about everyone getting food and seeing characters and getting autograph books signed and bathroom breaks.
Do you have a favorite spot to sit and eat alone? What’s your favorite snack to grab while you’re on your own?
