Summer’s here and the family’s ready to hit the beach. Don’t let your mom body stop you from getting out there and enjoying yourself. Finding bathing suits that compliment your favorite parts and hide your less than favorite parts will make all the difference. No one likes trying on bathing suits but you’ll really need to so you can see what works best for your body type. And each year you might have to try something new as your body changes. I’ve gathered up some ideas for you to help make the search a little bit easier. And if you’re thinking you can’t wear that suit and have fun with your kids this summer, make sure to check this out.
**All these ideas are from Target. No this post isn’t sponsored by Target, it’s just my happy shopping place. There’s also currently a great sale to help you save even more.
Tankini Tops
I personally like a two piece bathing suit that still provides coverage. They’re easier to get on and off and if you want to switch things up, you can always buy different tops and bottoms. Getting a two piece also helps to make sure you’ve got a bathing suit that fits all over because you can buy the top in the size you need and the bottoms too.
Here’s this cute top:
Or this one. I like picking a colorful top and more plain bottom just to make it look a little more exciting but you pick what you prefer and makes you feel most comfortable.
This one has a removable strap and could be great for breastfeeding moms.
Bottoms
You’ve picked a cute top and now you need to find bottoms to match. Here are a few ideas for you:
High wasted bottoms will help cover up your tummy area if that’s something you’d prefer to not show off.
I personally love a good swim skirt to give a bit more coverage of my thighs and booty.
One Piece
Having a one piece suit provides a good deal of coverage but doesn’t have to look old and prudish either. Something like this one piece from Target gives you the option to show a little more if you want but you don’t have to (make sure to double knot your tie to keep the kids from pulling it and helping you show off more than you intended to).
A plain black bathing suit is always a safe bet. It covers up spills or leaks well (come on moms – you know that could happen…) and you can always dress it up with a cute cover up or towel if you wanted to.
Cover Ups
Having a cute cover up can be a life saver. Being able to throw something on over your bathing suit to get to and from the pool can help give you the confidence to get out there more.
A simple dress style one like this is great and will match your suit without looking too put together.
Plain black is always good too (can you tell I’m a super plain dresser for the most part??).
Towels
Towels are a necessity for the beach and pool. Here are a couple of my favorites:
Having a fun towel not only gets to show a bit of your personality, but it’ll stand out among all the other pool towels on the chairs or beach.
I also like having a dark towel. It never fails that someone will wipe their face on it, or get a scrape they need to wipe off.
All of these items are available from Target. Make sure to use your Target RedCard to save on top of sale prices while you’re shopping. And you can use the Cartwheel app for additional savings. (And no this post isn’t sponsored by Target – I just happen to love shopping there!)
