My kids seem to go through phases where they’ll only want to buy school lunch. Then they’ll decide they only want packed lunches. Because of my oldest son’s long list of allergies (he’s my “Bubble Boy” who’s allergic to shellfish, peanuts, garlic, potatoes, and carrots among other things), there are limited choices sometimes. Even when they want the same lunch packed every day, there are still some ways to make them exciting.
Lunchbox Jokes
Whatever the age, these jokes will be sure to bring a smile to your kiddo’s face. And even better if they share them with their friends at their table. You’ll be the hit of the lunch room. You can write your joke on the sandwich bag, napkin, or a separate piece of paper. Need some ideas? Here are two pages of printable jokes you can use in lunches. (And if you subscribe to our newsletter, you got an additional sheet of jokes this week!)
Questions
If your kids are older, jokes might not be their thing. Instead, try something like a riddle, never have I ever, or would you rather type questions. This was they can share and discuss with their friends. You can theme your questions to things happening in your community, upcoming events, or even upcoming holidays.
Puzzles
Each day, put another piece of a puzzle in your kiddo’s lunch box. By Friday (or however long you want to make it), they can put their pieces together and figure out what the movie is for Friday night’s movie night, where you’re going to breakfast over the weekend, or something fun you’re going to do over the weekend. This is also a really fun way to announce a bigger surprise (like a vacation!). You could do a different puzzle each week to reveal the time of year you’re going, where you’ll be visiting, what you’ll be doing, ect.
Supplies
You don’t need anything fancy to do any of these. A few markers, some paper, and a little time are all you need to do any of these things. And don’t put a lot of pressure on yourself. You kiddo is going to appreciate (and even look forward to) what you’re doing if it’s your handmade joke or something you print off the internet.
And here are your free joke printables. Enjoy!!
How do you make you kiddo’s lunch more exciting?
